Meet a few of our athletes and what they have to say…
-
Brittany Higgins-Pierce - Professional Triathlete
Coach Jon started coaching me as an age-group triathlete in 2013. He taught me so much about the sport and coached me to many overall wins as an Amateur. In 2014 I started racing pro and had some top-10 finishes as a professional under his coaching.
He taught me so much about pacing, strength work, and keeping your head in the game when things get tough. Many sayings/mantra’s I still use when racing comes from when I worked with Jon. “

Dylan Nolan - Clemson University
Coach Jon Noland is a huge part of my running success! When I started training with him at the age of 14, I saw immediate results. Jon Noland has an extremely vast understanding of running and all of its fundamentals. He can talk all day about running and explain every detail that goes into it. This was the part that helped me as a runner. I would work so hard to drop time that I skipped over the fundamentals. It took a few weeks to break bad habits, but once that was accomplished, I was able to find my potential.
Another thing he does well is explain what we are doing and why we are doing it. This builds an understanding for most runners that can help with training overall. Coach Noland does a personalized yet equal training schedule. For different runners of different speeds, he will have a modified set ready. This goes for anything from injuries to taper workouts. I was given a set, the same as my friends, but my set was at a certain pace that helped me, and their sets were at their own pace as well.
Another thing he does that I have a great appreciation for is his involvement. He would ride his bike next to us on our long runs and occasionally join us for our intervals. Coach Jon Noland is one of the greatest coaches I’ve had. Between the knowledge and personalized training, he is everything I look for in a coach.

Cooper Chesser - Elite Youth Triathlete & HS track / xc runner
Having known Coach Jon for many years, I have seen him coach and develop many top youth runners. As the father of a 15yo HS sophomore and aspiring collegiate runner, I have trusted Coach Jon to develop my son. As essential as the actual training, Coach focuses on all the little things that are important to take your running to the next level and to develop youth into the best possible runners they can be: strength, stretching, form, nutrition, recovery, race day strategy, mental preparation, and so much more. Under Coach Jon’s tutelage, my son continues to build the confidence, speed, and knowledge that I firmly believe will take him to the next level. - Dan Chesser (parent of Cooper Chesser)

Jarrod Macklin - Head Coach / Owner Westchase Cheetahs
I have worked with Coach Jon for the last five years. I met him at a 5k Race in Westchase where he ran 15:31 second 5k in his 40's. Man, I was impressed. He heard about my team and came to me interested in the sport for his boys and wanted to help me, Coach. He is an example of what I want youth athletes to inspire to be. Running is more than just for College and Professionals; it is a great activity to include in your daily routine. The way to live a healthier lifestyle. His knowledge and will to run with his athletes have inspired and transformed 100's of youth athletes as my Head Distance Coach with Westchase Cheetahs. He has volunteered his time to the youth for free. We are a nonprofit organization that volunteer's for the youth. Only with the love to help others will a man work for free. That's true love and, honestly, true happiness. Great Man Great Father Great Coach, and overall Great Man. We appreciate his service to our community.

Connor White - HS track / xc runner
Coach Jon Noland has had one of the largest impacts on my life. Not only did he teach me everything I know about running, but he taught me so much more about life. Every practice, he would make sure to take the time to impart wisdom and provide meaning to running. His adages surrounding regret, determination, and comradery have stuck with me far beyond my years with him. These have guided me through many tough situations in my life. Even after he was no longer my coach, I have been able to reach out to him whenever I need advice concerning running or life in general.
On top of this, Jon Noland also taught me everything I know about running. When I joined cross country, I had only been running for a few months. Every practice, I was able to see noticeable improvements, and it was because of Noland’s training plans. Because of his
extensive knowledge of running, I could trust the process. Even when I struggled greatly for most of my senior season, Noland never stopped believing in my abilities.
That belief was the reason I was able to overcome my struggles. There is no one that I trust as much when it comes to a coach, and I know my life has been made so much better because of him.

Parker Do - Youth track athlete
Hi Coach Jon,
I just want to say you’re an amazing track coach. Parker is very fortunate to have trained with you and the mid/ long distance crew. It’s not easy to find a coach that is passionate and knowledgeable. Parker said to me that he loved training with you because you pushed him to run harder. So, thank you for an amazing track season with the Westchase Cheetahs. Keep doing what you’re doing because you have so much heart in what you do and it shows.
Thank you,
Tien Lam (parent of Parker Do)

Ted Westerheide - Top Age Group Triathlete / Runner
I considered it a privilege to have been coached by Jon and be surrounded by great athletes and human beings. We accomplished a great deal together in sport, winning a bunch of races, getting honored multiple times as a USAT all-American, qualifying for many world championships and even attaining a rank for half-Ironman of #2 in the world for a bit of time. Jon helped make that happen through goal setting, direct coaching, a personal and professional relationship, and the cultivation of a group of people who inspired each other. His plans, direction and feedback were clear and concise, making it easy to execute without noise or confusion.
In the end, what I really appreciate is that Jon helped me test my own personal limits while creating a learning culture that encouraged every one of his athletes to collaborate and celebrate success. That success came in all flavors and at many levels, which struck the right balance between a competitive and an open, accepting understanding of each other’s goals & limits. Thank you Jon!
